Vitor Belém

Born in 1938 in Cascais, this artist attended the António Arroio School and was a scholarship recipient from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation under the guidance of painter Júlio Pomar. His work spans various artistic disciplines such as painting, video, installation, and performance, with his most recent focus being photography.

From 1958 to 1976, he worked as a creative and designer in various companies, institutions, and press organizations, including Seara Nova.

In 1976, he worked at the Ministry of Culture as a senior technician, where he held various positions related to exhibition installations and was responsible for exhibition programming and publications.

He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions and is represented in various museums and public and private collections in Portugal and abroad.

He passed away in Cascais in early 2015 and donated a large part of his work to the Municipal Council.
