CRITICAL REMARKS: THE SATYR DANCE by Patrícia Magano (b. 1954), who studied at the Panamerican School of Art and at the University of Cleveland (USA), is a painter, ceramist, set designer, and television producer known for her portraiture and mural painting. In her artwork, we find humor and satire, subtly disguised social criticism, and a delight in false luxury and gratuitous sensuality. With a nod to the escape into the wild and beautiful nature, where the primordial forces and founding energies of myth persist, her satyr dance evokes movement and mystery in shades of white, black, and ochre.

Patrícia Magano

Patricia Cabral Magano was born in the city of S. Paulo, Brazil, in 1954. As a painter and set designer, the artist is recognized as one of the great talents of Brazilian contemporary art for her figurative-expressionist style. She studied at the Panamericana School of Art and at the University of Cleveland (USA). A painter, ceramist, set designer, and television producer, she has made a name for herself as a portraitist and mural painter, as well as in other areas such as ceramic painting and other objects, including clothing and footwear. During the 1970s and 1980s, she became a media figure and sparked controversy through her work in performance art.
