Restless Writing

Alexandra Mesquita is the author of a vertiginous adventure that revolves around a profound question about writing, represented in her exhibition in 2002, significantly titled "Restless Writing". In 1997, she created an installation centered around the brain, a metaphor (revisited in another exhibition in 2005) connoting her unique dreamlike discourse that questions Western rationality in its own way. In the current silkscreen on a mirror, where we can see ourselves, the head and the brain suggest the ontological importance of voice, the thread of a discourse capable of facing the obstacles to liberating thought in a repressive civilization bound to the tyranny of appearances.
