Sublime Nature: A Reflection on Image and Time
The photographs of Foz Coa by Duarte Belo, son of the renowned poet Rui Belo, in the noble tradition of black and white, are associated with the 35th anniversary celebrations of the Portuguese Center of Serigraphy. It is the author himself who establishes this connection, in a poetic reflection on the image. He considers that "the rock engravings of Foz Coa are unique representations of life and time. They hold the essence of the image as the primordial form of what we now call Art. The desire to acquire what is represented, the sublimity of language that emanates from our consciousness when we become aware of the finitude of life." The image allows us to capture time, restore its eternity that justifies and redeems it, as suggested in this beautiful collection that evokes the sublime nature itself.
