Egas José Vieira
Born in Lisbon in 1962, this artist is an architect and currently resides and works in Lisbon. He graduated from FA/UTL in 1985 and has since had a successful career in both architecture and art.
Throughout his career, he has been involved in various architectural projects, including the expansion of the Headquarters of the Order of Engineers in Lisbon, where he secured second place in a competition in association with Pedro Ucha. His works can be found in cities like Lisbon, Almada, Porto, Guimarães, Chaves, and Seville. These projects have been featured in specialized press and exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions since 1978.
One of his most notable projects is the controversial Urban Conversion Study of the Lisnave Shipyard in Almada. Currently, he is also working on projects such as the new campus for the Egas Moniz University in Monte da Caparica, a large residential complex in Guimarães with 427 units, the Olive Oil Museum in Mirandela, the Plan for the village of Estrela in Alqueva, the School of Music, Arts, and Crafts in Chaves, and a housing corner on Avenida Casal Ribeiro in Lisbon.
For their remarkable body of work, Manuel Graça Dias and Egas José Vieira were awarded the AICA/Ministry of Culture Prize in Architecture for the year 1999.
