CRITICAL OBSERVATIONS The Fable of the Tree
Raonel, a Cuban artist born in Havana in 1966, has dedicated himself to painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His universe is affirmed in these linocuts in four color variations, very close to illustration, and collages by a celebrated Danish artist and writer of children's literature, Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). His "Fable of the Tree" is a kind of plastic, bucolic, and lyrical madrigal, celebrating happy loves without a story, which nevertheless are part of the history and memory of our affections.
