Partnership:
Mónica de Miranda, born in 1976 in Amarante, lives and works between Lisbon and London. She has already developed several public art projects and performances on an international scale, exploring themes that reflect her interest in contemporary issues such as globalization and cultural mixing. Through various means of expression - video, photography, sound, sculpture, and installation - the artist reflects on the driving forces of today's society, particularly the current forms of interaction between the social and the cultural that create new transnational boundaries and "new geographies", a concept she coined and the title of an ongoing traveling exhibition started in London. In these screenprints, we witness the portrayal of urban migration to rural areas, a form of escapism emphasized by the presence of an airplane.
