The Fable of the Tree

Raonel, a Cuban artist born in Havana in 1966, has dedicated himself to painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His universe is affirmed in these linocuts in four color variations, closely resembling illustrations, and the collages of a celebrated Danish artist and writer of children's literature, Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). His "Fable of the Tree" is a kind of plastic, bucolic, and lyrical madrigal celebrating happy and unremarkable loves, which nevertheless are part of the history and memory of our affections.
