The Fable of the Tree
Raonel, a Cuban artist born in Havana in 1966, has devoted himself to painting, printmaking, and sculpture. His universe is affirmed in these linocuts in four color variants, closely resembling illustrations, and collages by a celebrated Danish artist and writer of children's literature, Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). His "Fable of the Tree" is a kind of plastic, bucolic, and lyrical madrigal celebrating happy and uneventful loves, which nevertheless are part of the history and memory of our affections.
