A PORTRAIT OF THE FEMININE AND NATURE
Mónica de Miranda, born in 1976 in Amarante, lives and works between Lisbon and London. She has developed various public art projects and performances on an international scale, focusing on contemporary issues such as globalization and cultural hybridization. Through her use of video, photography, sound, sculpture, and installation, the artist reflects the current dynamics of society, highlighting the evolving interactions between the social and cultural spheres that give rise to new transnational borders and "new geographies," a concept she coined. In these serigraphs, we witness an unusual and somewhat enigmatic portrait of the feminine, blending contemporary references with the primal nature of a wild and invasive force. Here, it takes the form of a vast pattern, representing the delicate balance between the cosmic and the human, essential for stability and equilibrium.
