Martinho Dias was born in 1968, in Trofa, where he currently resides and works.
He holds a degree in Fine Arts - Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto and completed his Master's degree in Painting at the same institution.
He has been a Visual Arts teacher and has illustrated several children's literature books.
His work has been featured in the "NY Arts Annual Catalogue 2009" and the magazine "NY Arts -Top Websites 2010" in New York. In August 2012, his work was highlighted in the weekly section by curator Chenoa Solis, from Saatchi Online, in London.
In September 2012, he represented Portugal in the 10th International Art Symposium in Saarbrucken, Germany, and most recently, the Municipality of Trofa awarded him the Cultural Merit Medal in 2012.
He has received several painting awards, including the Silver Award from the virtual gallery ArtMageur.com in 2010, 1st Prize in the "Body in Expression" competition at Espaço SERVARTES in Porto in 2007, and Honorable Mention in the "Shankar's International Children's Competition" in New Delhi, India, in 1983, among others.
His work has been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. Some examples include: "Martinho Dias - painting" at Galeria João Pedro Rodrigues in Porto in 2013; Group exhibition at Galeria MiTo in Warsaw, Poland in 2012; "IN PERSONA: 10th International Art Symposium" in Saarbrücken, Germany in 2012; "Global Village'2012 - an exhibition IRL" at the itinerant collective project: Projekt 072 in Alkmaar, Netherlands; Château de Sully in Burgundy, France; Kulturhuset Brønden in Copenhagen, Denmark. ART PARIS, International Art Fair at the Grand Palais, represented by Saatchi Online in Paris, France in 2011; "Perfection: Utopia of Women", a collective exhibition at MOYA - Museum of Young Art, Palais Schönborn, Vienna, Austria in 2011.
