THE REALITY AS A SECRET

Rogerio Ribeiro (Estremoz 1930-Lisbon, 2008), a recognized painter, engraver, and versatile artist, has produced works for ceramics and tapestry. He has also made a name for himself as an illustrator, lending his images to renowned names such as José Saramago, Fernando Namora, or Urbano Tavares Rodrigues, among others. The image now presented refers to the essence of art, seen as an unveiling of reality, considered as mere and illusory appearance. From the kind of blue screen, or inverted Pandora's Box, we see indescribable fragments of creatures, fantastic apparitions, true figures of secrecy, encrypted images of reality that hide to better reveal their nature, against an alchemical golden background.
