A Portrait of Femininity and Nature
Mónica de Miranda, born in 1976 in Amarante, lives and works between Lisbon and London. She has been developing various projects of public art and performances on an international scale, reflecting her interest in contemporary issues such as globalization and cultural hybridization. Through her use of various mediums including video, photography, sound, sculpture, and installation, the artist's work reflects the current dynamics of society, particularly the interaction between the social and the cultural. This interaction creates new transnational boundaries and "new geographies," a concept coined by the artist herself. In these present serigraphs, we witness an unusual and somewhat enigmatic portrayal of femininity, blending contemporary references with the primordial essence of a wild and invasive nature. This nature is presented here as a grand pattern, representing the balance between the cosmic and the human, essential for its equilibrium and stability.
