Loli Aldazabal's serigraphs, created within the context of her exhibition at Galeria António Prates (Mar-Apr/19) titled "Sensations," showcase the artist's non-figurative painting style characterized by a delicate geometric harmony. As stated by Rui Afonso Santos in the exhibition's introduction, "These smooth planes occasionally transform into contrasting three-dimensional forms, gaining solidity... The immense variety of planes and perspectives, underscored by soft colors, aligns with the tradition of Geometric Abstraction, one of the canons and pillars of Western visual culture." This language and aesthetic naturally resonate in Aldazabal's works.

Loli Aldazabal

Loli Aldazabal was born on November 15, 1980, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1999, she moved to Buenos Aires city and began her studies in the field of plastic arts with Ethien Gontar. After attending this workshop, she decided to formalize her knowledge and enrolled in the Santa Ana School of Fine Arts to pursue a degree in Fine Arts. At the same time, she also started exploring photography. Following a period of realistic painting, she joined Gabriel Baggio's workshop, where she took a leap and ventured into other artistic languages. After a long journey to the East, she decided to take a break from her artistic production. This marked the beginning of a new phase, moving away from realism. Under the guidance of Argentine artist Eduardo Medici, she found a more personal path, always alternating her perspective under the mentorship of various artists such as Rodolfo ScafidiI, Tulio de Sagastizábal, and Mariela Sacfati, allowing her to deepen her technique and concept of production. Alongside this, she actively participated in different collective and solo exhibitions, as well as competing in awards such as the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, receiving recognition from Banco Provincia and participating in biennials. She has also taken part in art residencies such as Hangar in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2019, she was invited by the António Prates Art Gallery in Lisbon to hold a solo exhibition, and by the Centro Português de Serigrafia in Lisbon to create serigraphs. For Loli Aldazabal, her artwork is a metaphor for the search for balance and constant change. It reflects her everyday reflections. She currently resides and works in Buenos Aires.
