NATURE AND ALCHEMY
Magda Delgado was born in Lisbon, where she remained until 2013 before moving abroad. She graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and was a scholar of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2011). Her work is represented in various public collections and she has held numerous solo and group exhibitions. Since 2018, she has been working between England and Lisbon. According to the artist, the feeling of inadequacy in the modern world is the root of a conflict that is expressed in her works. Nature, as an absolute and a source of beauty, transcendence, and redemption, has become the inspiration for her creations.
In this lithograph, with its two-color glaze, we witness not just a "post-apocalyptic vision," but a process of dissolution, a sort of dark phase of alchemy that prepares for the advent of a solar transfiguration capable of returning humans to nature and their true nature.
