Rui Pimenta's (b. 1968) painting, who graduated in Philosophy and studied at the Toronto School of Art in Canada, where he settled, has already been distinguished in that country and is included in several private collections. The artist works on translucent surfaces with very fluid paints in light and shadow effects that are an essential part of his work, on which he states: "I am fascinated by the characteristics of these materials and the variety of paths they provide. It is especially exciting when my paintings, despite being manipulated by my hands, exhibit an autonomy that seems to transcend my intentions." In the digital prints we present, playing with order and chance, he practices a very particular abstraction that evokes forms and rhythms of microorganisms in a grammar that seems close to a avant-garde trend like Bio Art.
