THE LESSON OF OP ART
The retrospective exhibition in 2003 at the Azulejo Museum in Lisbon revealed, since 1961, the various facets of Eduardo Nery's artistic journey in tapestry, tile, mosaic, and stained glass. Starting his artistic expression with gestural drawing, the artist quickly evolved into an aesthetic influenced by Op Art, in which he would establish himself until the present day, showcasing his work in important and now historic public art installations. Mastering various technologies, the artist has been building his creation on the study of optical phenomena, geometrically synthesizing luminous impressions that transform into chromatic games of infinite plasticity and mobility, as documented by these screen prints, showcasing color variations that demonstrate the versatility and invention of Eduardo Nery, a major figure in 20th-century art in Portugal.
