THE LESSON OF OP ART

The retrospective exhibition in 2003 at the Museum of Azulejo in Lisbon revealed the various facets of Eduardo Nery's artistic journey since 1961, encompassing tapestry, tile, mosaic, and stained glass. Starting with gestural drawing, the artist quickly evolved towards an aesthetic influenced by Op Art, through which he has made an enduring impact, showcasing his work in important and now historic public art installations. Mastering various technologies, Nery's artistic creation is rooted in the study of optical phenomena, synthesizing geometrically the play of light that transforms into chromatic games of infinite plasticity and mobility, as showcased in these present serigraphs. These variations of color demonstrate the versatility and invention of Eduardo Nery, a prominent name in 20th century Portuguese art.
