Silkscreen print with book offer
José Duarte Martins da Silva (born in 1944) chose the pseudonym Vila, perhaps in homage to the Colombian poet Vargas Vila (1860-1933) and the adventurer Pancho Villa, commander of the Mexican Revolution. In the sixties, he embraced this pseudonym to express his dual artistic and gastronomic vocation. As an artist, he produced a body of work compiled in a book published in 2010, where his interest in reflecting on writing shines through, possibly influenced by Tàpies, Álvaro Lapa, or António Sena. In the presented silkscreen print, against the black of all possibilities, the tears of white open spaces of pure invention. And the fantasies unfurl their delicate veil of blue and red, the color of the sky and a fire that burns unseen, just like the heart of these stories of love for the visible and the mystery that presides over them.
