Born in Arganil in 1928, this artist pursued a degree in Sculpture and was a scholarship recipient from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in the Painting course. Later, they moved to Mozambique where they formed the "Grupo dos Independentes" with artists João Ayres, Maluda, and Garizo do Carmo in 1961. They also worked as a secondary school teacher in Maputo. In 1972, they collaborated in the establishment of the Center for Cultural Studies in Mozambique. In 1975, they took part in organizing the 1st and 2nd Popular Art Exhibition. In 1979, they created the set design for the play "Leonor Rainha Maravilhosamente" by the National Company of Maputo. Throughout their career, this artist held over 100 exhibitions both in Portugal and abroad, from 1956 to 2011. They have their work included in various public and private collections in Portugal and abroad, and have received several awards and mentions for their artistic achievements. They passed away in 2012.
