Born in Atei, Trás-os-Montes. In 1979, upon meeting the artist Óscar Alves, he had his first approach to sculpture, experimenting with clay modeling.
One year later, he held his first exhibition in Santarém, at the Espaço da Holanda, and since then he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions. Some notable ones include: 1981, Palácio Galveias, Lisbon; 1983, EDP Space, Lisbon; 1988, Sculpture (trophy) for the International Festival "Audiovisual Lisboa 88" promoted by the Portuguese Film Federation; 1993, Padrão dos Descobrimentos, Lisbon; 1993, La Cabala, Madrid; 1997, "Nova Gente Trophy" for the Nova Gente magazine; 1997, Estampa 97, Madrid; 2000, Patriarcal, Lisbon; 2000, Amadeu Sousa Cardoso Museum, Amarante; 2000, sculpture "Guitarra na Proa", a tribute to fado, Amália and Lisbon, Lisbon.
He is represented in private collections in countries such as Spain, France, England, USA, Brazil, and Libya. Due to his curriculum, he was proposed for the World Association of Ceramists based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2011, he published a book with his own paintings and poetry.
