In the context of the exhibition "Everyday Mythologies" presented in 1964 at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (the second version would take place in 1977), the term "Narrative Figuration" emerged. It ended up identifying not a school or a movement, but a group of artists who were formally close to Pop Art, highly politicized, and witnessing the contradictions and dramas of consumer society. The connection to events and reality was highlighted in the exhibition "Critical Figurations" (1964-1975), which took place in Lyon in 1992, and has remained a strong line in contemporary art. Erró, Klasen, Monory, Rancillac, and Seguí remained faithful to the initial spirit of "Narrative Figuration," renewing their contents and diversifying their expressions. Yvan Messac's creation, which can be understood in this context, presents the icon of feminine sensuality at the center of a universe marked by the exuberance of forms and the intensity of colors.
