The bull is a central artistic and symbolic motif in Picasso's work, who was influenced by the lessons of art history, from Goya to Manet. This motif had a particular expression in the 1930s, in his graphic works such as the famous "Suite Vollard", the "Minotauromaquia" from 1935, and the iconic "Guernica" from 1937, one of the most emblematic paintings of the 20th century. This image by António Ferrão aligns itself with this noble tradition, perhaps serving as its inspiration.
