Feminine Universes

Helena Abreu, a nationally renowned artist from Porto, has been recognized with various awards (Rodrigues Júnior Prize in 1945 and 1946, Honorable Mention at the Salon des Artistes in 1978 and 1980, and admission to the Salon des Artistes Français). Honored with the silver medal by the City Council of Porto, her work has been showcased in a remarkable retrospective at the Town Hall of Matosinhos. In the two presented works, whether in the delicacy of the line and the soft palette of her serigraphic expression, or in the density of shadows and the fluid and rigorous lines that emerge from the nobility of lithographic stone, it is the image of women, with their drama and everyday sweetness, that once again touches and dazzles us.
