GESTURES AS SIGNS
In this serigraph composition, João Murillo uses broad and syncopated brushstrokes to create figures from a vocabulary of gestural signs where the human is the privileged reference. The palette of blood reds and awakened blacks, accentuated by a touch of gold, combines with the dynamism of the form, creating an atmosphere of intensity that is communicated throughout the piece, vaguely suggesting a justified couple.
