Amélia Assis
Born in Lisbon in 1955, this artist attended painting courses at Ar.Co from 1985 to 1987. In 1992, they studied at Syracuse University in New York with Professor Jerôme Witkin, and drawing at the Metropolitan School of the Arts in New York.
In addition to their work as a painter, they have collaborated several times as a set designer for the Joana Theater Group, including an invitation from the animation department of EXPO'98, where they contributed to the priority program with the show "Mafamagafa". One of their notable exhibitions was "My name is woman" at Livraria Ler Devagar in 2001, for which Adília Lopes wrote the accompanying text. They also worked as a columnist for the art magazine "Atualidade Arte e Cultura" in the same year.
