Born in Lisbon in 1943, this artist studied painting at the National Society of Fine Arts in the 1960s. After graduating in Civil Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico in 1966, they later settled in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro) and dedicated themselves full-time to painting from 1982 onwards, especially in 1983, after an extended stay in New York.
In 1991, they participated in the first Triennale of Osaka (Japan) and were awarded the Acquisition Prize for the collection of the "Osaka Foundation of Culture". In the same year, they established themselves permanently in Lisbon, in the old Bairro da Sé, where they currently reside and have their studio. They have held solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.
