"Sonho de Lisboa" Suite

José Manuel Ciria recently presented at Galeria António Prates an exhibition (with significant impact in Spain) of his recent works inspired by Lisbon and great references in modern art history such as Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol. A very unique union between drawing and a broad expression of informalist brushwork, his most emblematic image, on new supports such as leatherette and linoleum, with a restrained palette ignited by invading shades of red. The contemporaneity, the outcry, the hidden grammar of life that underlies it, and his current creations for screen printing are well documented.

Círia

José Manuel Círia was born in 1960 in the English city of Manchester. He emerged in the art scene in the mid-1980s and, especially during the 1990s, began to demonstrate a solid artistic maturity. And the truth is that he has revealed, both in his attitude as an artist and in his works, all five of these aspects.
