Under the theme of "Synthetic Aesthetics," these artworks explore the relationship between art and artificial intelligence.
Ken Rinaldo, born in New York in 1958, is a renowned figure in the international Bio Art movement, which focuses on the intersection of art and technology. He is particularly interested in the impact of artificial intelligence on our perception of reality and nature, blurring the boundaries between the organic and inorganic. As a professor of Robotics and Bio Art at the University of Ohio, Rinaldo has developed his own language and vocabulary, which is clearly evident in the discourse that accompanied his exhibition at the Antonio Prates Gallery, titled "Synthetic Aesthetics."
These captivating digital prints evoke the fictional universes of authors like Huxley and Orwell, where reality has surpassed fiction, as well as the surreal and visionary landscapes of the French artist Yves Tanguy. Rinaldo's enigmatic and composite creatures seem to belong to a world with which he shares a profound affinity.
