Rui Palma Carlos
Rui Manoel Baptista Velho de Palma Carlos was born in 1948. He was an important neo-figurative painter and architect who embraced a popular, almost-naive style. He also worked in the fields of writing, illustration, and poetry. His work reflects a fascination with painters from the early 20th century and was particularly dedicated to portraying facades of old buildings, typical Portuguese houses, and manor houses, among others. Rui de Palma Carlos illustrated several works, including those by authors such as Camillo Castello Branco, Eça de Queiroz, Abel Botelho, and Joaquim Paço d'Arcos. He also wrote and illustrated children's books. He exhibited in various galleries, mainly at Palácio Foz in 1973, 1974, 1988, and 1989, and at Casino Estoril in 1977, 1981, 1983, and 1985. He also worked with graphic techniques such as serigraphy, lithography, and postcard collections, including "Houses of Lisbon," published by Margrape in 1985. He passed away in 2008.
