Partnership:
Linocut print with handwritten text by the author:
"Once upon a time, there was a firefly who preferred to live in the light of day. "How can you waste your talent to illuminate?", they frequently said to her. "Well, that's my freedom", she would respond."
In the series "The Misfits" - From Life to Fable, painter and illustrator Maria João Worm creates a whole array of characters in her linocut prints, borrowing their meaning from some figures in the animal kingdom. Her "misfits" are nothing more than the protagonists of a rebellion that is all too familiar to us, the rebellion of all those who refuse to follow the stereotypes imposed by a materialistic and oppressive society.
