Nuno Saraiva

Nuno Saraiva was born in 1969 in Lisbon. As an Editorial Illustrator, he has collaborated with almost all Portuguese print media, notably Expresso, Observador, Público, and TimeOut Lisbon. Alongside Júlio Pinto, he created the comic book series "Filosofia de Ponta", "Arnaldo o Pós Cataléptico", and "A Guarda Abília". In recent years, he has published "A Crise explicada às crianças" (Esfera dos Livros) with João Miguel Tavares, which also has a Greek version (Patakis Publications); illustrated the book "Caríssimas 40 canções - Sérgio Godinho e as canções dos outros" (Abysmo); "Isto é um Assalto" with Francisco Louçã and Mariana Mortágua (Bertrand); and "Aníbal Milhais - o soldado Milhões" with text by José Jorge Letria (Pato Lógico). He has designed the Festas de Lisboa, which have enlivened the festivities since 2014. He is a part of the collection "Sardinha by Bordallo" (Fábrica de Faiança Bordallo Pinheiro) with his "Sardinha do Golaço", commemorating our national team's championship in Euro 2016. His book "Tudo isto é Fado!" (Museu do Fado) was awarded the "Best Comic Book 2016" prize (FIBDA). He won the recently revived Literary Creation Grants competition in the comic book category, by order of the Minister of Culture and approved by the Director-General of Libraries, Archives, and Museums, in 2018. He is currently a lecturer at the school of arts and communication Ar.Co, where he has helped create various workshops in the field of illustration, comic books, and film, as well as at the Lisbon School of Design (LSD), where he coordinates a digital illustration workshop. He has also created the images for the Festas de Lisboa promoted by EGEAC since 2014 and is now developing the entire set of Trophies for the Marchas de Lisboa. In addition to teaching and the workshop, he also dedicates himself to Mural Painting, with about 6 works spread throughout the city of Lisbon and its surroundings.
