Born in Lisbon in 1937, the artist began her career as a painter and printmaker in 1959. She studied printmaking at Gravura in 1967/68, where she developed the technique of woodcut with the help of a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. From 1976 to 1978, she completed several internships at Hochschule Für Bildende Kunst in Hamburg, focusing on lithography. She was awarded a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to co-author the book "Artistic Printmaking Techniques" with painter Alice Jorge, which was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture in 1986. She has been involved in teaching artistic printmaking techniques, organizing collective exhibitions, and illustrating children's books.
