Green Landscapes of Poetry
Albano, a 23-year-old Spanish painter, has been accumulating almost all available awards for young painters in his country since 2003. An exhibition of his works was recently presented at Galeria António Prates under the title "Pásalo" (from the song "Pass it on" by Bob Marley). From refined figuration and a very free brushstroke, the artist has evolved into a poetic spatialism dominated by green. The light dazzles us in the entirety of his universe, creating, in the words of Tomás Paredes, "a world entirely green and defined, in flames of ripe and obsessed sun, innocent and fecund," where landscapes of great sweetness and a sense of freedom assert themselves, as real as they are abstract, blending reality and metaphor.
