Partnership:
Ivald Granato (b. 1949), versatile and multifaceted, considered the greatest performance artist in Brazil, studied at the School of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro. He is a painter, sculptor, editor, and author of several books, as well as a set designer and television producer. Granato was the author of manifestos such as "Plural" or "Artist in Search of a Profession". His creations have a kinship with Jean Dubuffet's Art Brut (1901-1985), expressing the voices of the mentally ill and children, as well as graffiti, embracing spontaneity and the instinctive and disruptive impulse of the gesture. In fact, it is with the creator of Art Brut, a precursor of abstract expressionism and informality, and his language of great freedom, certain naivety, and irony, that Granato's current compositions reveal an explicit closeness, particularly with the famous "L'Hourloupe" series from 1962 (which would later be extended to sculpture), in the relationship between movement and color, with a predominance of blues and reds.
