HOMAGE TO THE MASTERS Picasso and Matisse
The love for painting, evoking a well-known title by Claude Roy, explains and summarizes not only the entire journey of the great painter and already historical illustrator, Dorindo de Carvalho (b.1937), but also one of the most interesting series of his paintings, titled "My Masters", represented in these two screenprints by Picasso and Matisse. Regarding Picasso, universally considered the most iconic artist of the 20th century and the inventor of Cubism, there is little to add that is not already common knowledge, the same applying to Matisse, who in the context of Fauvism gave color the protagonism in painting. Both are mentioned in these two splendid creations for screenprinting. Picasso, in one of the figures from Guernica, and Matisse in his vibrant dance, in the interpretation of Dorindo de Carvalho, himself a master in the use of line, color, form, and geometry.
