A Tribute to Masters Picasso and Matisse
The love for painting, evoking a well-known title by Claude Roy, explains and synthesizes not only the entire journey of the great painter, and already a historical illustrator, Dorindo de Carvalho (b.1937), but also one of the most interesting series of his paintings, titled "My Masters," represented in these two screen prints by Picasso and Matisse. Regarding Picasso, unanimously considered the most emblematic artist of the 20th century and the inventor of Cubism, there is little to add that is not common knowledge, the same applying to Matisse, who, in the context of Fauvism, gave color prominence in painting. Both are mentioned in these two splendid creations for screen printing. Picasso is depicted in one of the figures from Guernica, and Matisse in his vibrant dance, in the interpretation of Dorindo de Carvalho, himself a Master in the use of line, color, form, and geometry.
