Partnership:
Cruzeiro Seixas' paintings and drawings (born in 1920) form, according to Hellmut Wohl, "the largest, most coherent, and most representative collection of surrealist expression by a Portuguese artist." In his creation and in this present work, there is a disturbing dreamlike universe, with its fragmented figures, a landscape populated by signs of the unconscious, enigmas that carry an unfathomable mystery. This unsettling dreamlike universe, halfway between the lunar and a luminous transparency, corresponds to the opacity and secret of its content, under the sign of a love bond, in an atmosphere of suspension and threat, suffering and aggression, which are characteristic of our time.
