Rotating Cosmos: Exploring the Connection between Neurology and Art
Manuela Crespo (b. 1961), a painter, illustrator, graphic artist, and neurologist by profession, has been seeking, in her own words, "a connection between (...) neurology and art, which, in her view, lies in the connections that both allow us to develop between microcosms and macrocosms," with an emphasis on the underlying order. Or between the intimate and the immense, which a specialist like French philosopher Gaston Bachelard, also interested in the relationship between art and science, considers one of the essential mechanisms of the imaginary. These superb prints depict small rotating cosmos, with calligraphic elements that seem to ignite within them, suggesting the grand rhythms of a rotating cosmos, a hidden and suggested meaning within the labyrinth of lines and signs.
