A Poetic Synthesis of the Cosmos

Andrés Alcántara (b. 1960), a renowned Spanish sculptor and printmaker, has also gained recognition as a graphic artist. One of his works was already distinguished in 2006 at the prestigious graphic art fair, Estampa. His dialogue with primitive art has become emblematic of his creation. The print presented today reflects the lines and forms of the various realms of nature and its creatures. The fluidity of water and air, the shimmer and movement of fire, the interplay of light and shadows, the vegetalistic patterns and veins, and the labyrinths that stage Chaos and Cosmos. It is a language of poetic synthesis that reveals the plastic mastery of an artist and the full maturity of his expression.
