35 YEARS CPS EDITION
The Mastery of Drawing
Álvaro Siza Vieira (born in 1933), the most celebrated Portuguese architect of today, was born in Porto, where he still works and resides. An architect-artist like Corbusier, he has demonstrated in his drawings the same virtuosity that he has accustomed us to in his architectural work. Without subordinating himself to them, but creating his own unmistakable style, he has incorporated influences from great Masters of international modernism such as Adolf Loos, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Alvar Aalto. The exhibition of 100 drawings by Siza Vieira at the Tchoban Foundation in Berlin in 2019 marked the centenary of Bauhaus, including some of the drawings of projects envisioned by the great Portuguese architect for Germany, such as the famous "Bonjour Tristesse" and precisely the drawing of the unrealized project for the Kulturforum, which is the theme of the serigraphy we present today, commemorating the 35 years of CPS. It is a true testament to the mastery and incomparable talent of the architect.
