iLAND (baking) 2013
Musée Paul Valéry, France
During this performance, Regina Frank donned the iLAND dress as she delved into the art of baking. She skillfully crafted a cake from scratch, all the while exploring the themes of transition and alchemy. In her narration, she highlighted the unparalleled love of a mother and the enticing aroma of a freshly baked cake, emphasizing the stark contrast between homemade delicacies and store-bought confections. Concealed beneath her dress was a fully baked cake, still warm from the oven, which she pretended to have cooked solely with the heat emanating from her own body. As she shared slices of the cake, she engaged her audience in discussions on sharing, hygiene, and environmental concerns. Additionally, she touched upon the inherent power of women and the significance of the Placenta, lovingly referred to as the "Mothercake" in German.
