Fables for adults
Clara Martins, like Paula Rego, recreates children's fables to express the ghosts, illusions, and fantasies of an adult world, of a personal and collective imagination. This is also evident in the universe of her disturbing "ladybugs," metaphors for the traumas and permitted escapes in a perverse and repressive society.
