Artworks created under the theme of "Synthetic Aesthetics" based on the relationship between art and artificial intelligence.
Ken Rinaldo, born in New York in 1958, is a prominent figure in the international Bio Art movement. He explores the connection between art and technology, focusing on the impact that artificial intelligence has on our perception of reality and nature, blurring the boundaries between the organic and the inorganic. As a Robotics and Bio Art professor at Ohio University, Rinaldo has developed his own language and vocabulary, evident in the discourse accompanying his exhibition at Galeria António Prates, titled "Synthetic Aesthetics," in which these current artworks are included.
These exceptional digital prints evoke the fictional universes of Huxley's "Brave New World" or Orwell's "1984," a reality that has long surpassed fiction. They also bring to mind the surreal and visionary landscapes of French artist Yves Tanguy, with his enigmatic composite creatures. It seems that Ken Rinaldo shares a deep affinity with this world.
