Global Warming, 2008

CO4 Performance, Dokumenta, Taiwan

Regina Frank's artwork, Global Warming, presents a powerful visual representation of the environmental crisis we face. In this performance, Frank holds a globe filled with air and light, symbolizing the delicate state of our planet. However, the globe is covered with a layer of ice, representing the impact of global warming.

As the performance unfolds, the warmth of Frank's body causes the ice to slowly melt. Tears stream down her face, reflecting the emotional toll of witnessing the destruction caused by climate change. For a continuous 28 minutes, her tears merge with the melting ice, creating a puddle of water around her.

With the ice completely melted, Frank embraces the now vulnerable globe, and the air escapes, resulting in a crumbling sphere. This poignant moment represents the fragility of our planet and the urgent need for action.

Through Global Warming, Regina Frank invites viewers to confront the consequences of our actions and consider the importance of preserving our environment for future generations.
