Forms of a Wonderful Cosmos
Domingos Pinho, a remarkable artist from Porto where he was born in 1937 and taught at the School of Fine Arts for about forty years, is also one of the most prominent names in Portuguese art in the second half of the 20th century. Fulfilling the vocation of painting as a deep and luminous breath of life since the 1950s, he works in the intimacy of a complicit gaze with silence, enchantment of the real, oblivious to trends and avant-garde, following only the paths dictated by his sensitivity as an artist, poet, and researcher of the secrets of his art. In his current works for serigraphy, "The Trees Die Standing" and a tribute to Fernão Capelo Gaivota, his gaze and brush capture the world with sharpness of all awakened senses and at the same time with openness to dream and the treasures of the imagination, creating form based on thought and fantasy that animates all creatures of a wonderful cosmos.
