Danuta Wojciechowska

Danuta was born in Québec (Canada) in 1960 and moved to Zurich at a young age, where she graduated in Communication Design from the Schule fur Gestaltung. She later completed a Postgraduate Degree in Pedagogy and Education through Art in England. Since 1984, she has been living in Lisbon, where she co-founded the Lupa Design studio in 1993 and currently serves as Managing Partner. In 1989, she also completed the Creative Play Course at the Artistic Center for Children of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. Danuta's artistic activity is extensive, with a particular focus on illustration, especially in the field of children's books. She has illustrated several books by authors such as João Pedro Messeder, Mia Couto, Onjaki, and José Jorge Letria. Her illustrations go beyond the literal representation of words, as she believes that sometimes illustrations can convey things that cannot be put into words (Conference in Portalegre). Her illustrations have the ability to stand on their own, without relying on text. Danuta Wojciechowska has a wide range of professional experience in areas such as design, set design, as well as in pedagogy and training. Among the awards she has received, one of the highlights is the 2003 National Illustration Award for the book "O Sonho de Mariana" by António Mota, published by Gailivro.
