Marília Viegas

Born in Faro in 1941, this artist obtained a degree from the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon. She was a scholarship recipient of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation while studying and currently works as a researcher in Printmaking at the Cooperative Diferença. In 1979, she participated in the 1st Biennale Der Europaischen Grafik Heidelberg and the 13th Biennale of Printmaking in Ljubljana. Additionally, she participated in the 8th and 10th International Biennale of Engraving in Cracow in 1980 and 1984, respectively. Among the individual and group exhibitions she has participated in, noteworthy ones include: a Printmaking and Painting Exhibition at "Casa das Artes" in Tavira in 1990, a Printmaking and Drawing Exhibition at the "Cooperative of Printmakers" in Lisbon in the same year, an exhibition at the EPAL Gallery "Mãe d'Água" in Lisbon in 1996, an exhibition at the José Malhoa Museum in Caldas da Rainha in 2000, and a Portuguese Printmaking exhibition in Oxford, England in 1992. She has been awarded and recognized by various institutions.
