CELEBRATION OF POP CULTURE
João Galrão (b.1975), who lives and works in Lisbon and has been exhibiting in Portugal, France, and Spain since 1996, has recently been developing a Pop and psychedelic language in his paintings, which is precisely revealed in these serigraphy works. The culture and art of Pop, its famous paintings, such as those by Richard Hamilton (1922-2011), its icons, Elvis Presley or James Dean, coexist with other contemporary aesthetic references, such as Marcel Duchamp's ready-made, in a kaleidoscopic universe of quotations, giving life to a sinuous game of phosphorescent lines, frames, and intriguing signs, drawing attention to the true ambivalence of life, eroticism, and death.
