Engraving by David de Almeida, one of the masters of contemporary printmaking, exhibited in the exhibition titled 'CadĂȘncia' (Cadence), held in 2011 at the temporary exhibition gallery of the Portuguese Serigraphy Center in the Centro Cultural de BelĂ©m. In this collection, the artist once again engages in an original dialogue, characteristic of his style, with prehistoric inscriptions. A language of plastic signs acquires a special power of resonance on the monochromatic backgrounds. The small white circular marks, in a rhythmic pattern, evoke the rhythm of small gestures that are the origin of all creation, as well as the incisions made in the Neolithic period for the cutting of monumental stones. Permeable to the sun, moonlight, rain, dew, and the modulation of seasons, they become a palette of the universe. The exhibition is accompanied by a book of the same name that explores the rhythm of the minimalist language of stone incisions inspired by the Neolithic period.
